London is a vast city, so it can be difficult to plan a walking tour that covers the entire city. To make it easier, I have divided it into Central, West, and East London. Here is a guide to help you make the most of your day exploring Central London.
Start your day at beautiful Green Park, one of London’s Royal Parks. Take a leisurely walk from Buckingham Palace to Westminster, enjoying the scenic views and tree-lined pathways.
Next, visit Westminster Abbey, a stunning example of Gothic architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the interiors adorned with stained glass windows and towering ceilings.
No trip to London is complete without seeing Big Ben, the iconic clock tower that is synonymous with the city. Take a twenty-minute walk from Westminster Abbey to Big Ben, and admire the heritage architecture along the way.
For the most iconic photos of London, head to Westminster Bridge. From here, you can capture breathtaking shots of Big Ben, the London Eye, and the Houses of Parliament.
No visit to London is complete without experiencing the London Eye. Cross Westminster Bridge and be greeted by the iconic ferris wheel. Take a ride to enjoy panoramic views of the city.
For lunch, head to Spring, one of the loveliest restaurants in Central London. Housed in a restored 19th-century drawing room, the interior features rococo columns and marble countertops adorned with flowers and plants. The menu changes daily, offering the best of every season.
After lunch, don’t miss a visit to Covent Garden, a popular outdoor market filled with chic boutiques and charming cafes. Indulge in macarons at Laduree, try vegan burgers at By Chloe, or enjoy avocado-inspired delights at London’s first avocado-only restaurant.
Make a stop at Liberty London, a renowned department store that has become a London institution. Admire the beautiful blooms outside, which are often photographed. Inside, you’ll find upscale designers and luxury British goods displayed in a Tudor-revival setting.
If you need an afternoon pick-me-up, head to Curators Coffee Gallery. This charming spot features honeycombed tiling and serves specialty coffee. It’s just a five-minute stroll from Liberty, making it a perfect place to rest your feet after shopping.
If you’re in the mood for more shopping, visit Oxford Circus and explore the famous British High Street. Make sure to check out Topshop. Even if you’re not shopping, take a moment to watch the iconic red London buses driving down Oxford Street.
End your day with dinner at Sketch, a unique and surreal restaurant. Admire the art-filled walls and experience the egg-shaped toilet pods. This extraordinary establishment also features a blush pink tea room designed by David Shrigley and a bar adorned with an aviary theme.
